Steel fuel station project

We continue to follow this 15,000L steel fuel station project as the tank starts to take shape in our fabrication shop. Our integrally bunded diesel tanks are typically constructed from S275 mild steel plate using MIG welding processes. Non-destructive testing comprises of a dye penetrant inspection as well as an air pressure test in accordance with BS799.

WEC Group has over 150 highly skilled welders & fabricators at its disposal, many of whom have been trained in-house by our own apprentice training academy. Our fabricators work with a wide range of materials – as well as mild steel, we work with all grades of stainless steels, and even more exotic materials such as titanium!

WEC Group works in extremely quality-intensive sectors such as aerospace, rail and nuclear – so ensuring a high standard of workmanship and ‘right first time, every time’ approach is in our nature. This is underlined by our integrated management system – as well as ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 we hold the ISO3834 accreditation for our Welding Quality Management Scheme. We are also certified by The Welding Institute to work in conformance with BS EN 1090 up to execution class 4 if required, with many of our welders coded in a variety of weld positions.
